Tips & Tricks

Do and don't with Shopsta

1 Add header and footer on Frontpage

Header and footer needs to be added on Frontpage. All other pages will display header and footer for decoration purpose and both won’t be editable. If you want to edit header or footer, switch back to Frontpage

2 Add all widgets you want to reuse on Frontpage

Let’s say you want Newsletter section on Collections page. Add newsletter widget to Frontpage in Shopsta and when you export theme and upload, you will be able to reuse Newsletter section (and all other widgets you added on homepage) on any page because Shopsta creates Shopify OS2.0 themes which have reusable sections

3 Add only pages widgets to all other pages than Frontpage

Add “Collection page” widget to Collection page, add “Blog Page” widget to blog page and do same for each page. All pages needs their page widgets for successful theme export. Please note that if you started with premade theme then each page already have required widgets added

4 Use Shopsta to add backgrounds on small elements only

Use Shopsta editor to add backgrounds on small elements, for example title background on “CTA Grid” widget and NEVER add backgrounds in Shopsta for whole sections because background layers won’t work in exported theme if you apply background on whole section in Shopsta!

5 Think about backgrounds before you export

If you want to use dark background gradient in exported theme, make sure to make text of that section white or other readable color before you export
